Spiritual Preparation

Trek is an opportunity for each participant, and specifically the youth, to have a deep and abiding spiritual experience that can bring them closer to Christ and strengthen their testimony of the restoration.  Spiritual preparation in advance of trek will greatly increase the blessing of our trek. Parents, we also invite you to participle in the preparation and to specifically pray for your youth to have positive and life changes experiences.

Youth are encouraged to participate in daily prayer and scripture study, to attend sacrament, youth meetings and seminary to help them build spiritual stamina and to prepare to receive their own personal spiritual experiences on trek.

Walking with our Ancestors

Temple & Family History Challenge for Youth

Trek can provide our youth with an understanding of:

  • Their relationship to our Church pioneers

  • How the legacy of their own ancestors has impacted their lives

  • How they are a link in the generations and are creating a legacy for future generations.

Invitation:

  • We invite all youth to find (at least one) ancestor, learn about them and take that name to the temple prior to Trek.

  • We invite each youth to walk for someone on trek. It could be the ancestor whose name they have taken to the temple, it could be an ancestor who they consider to be a pioneer, a church pioneer or even themselves.

We invite the youth to be prepared to talk in their Trek family about the person they are "walking for" and their legacy or the legacy that is being created.
