Trek Bucket

Each participant will be provided with a 20 litre bucket with lid prior to Trek. All your belongings and supplies (excluding bedding) must fit within the bucket. The bucket will travel with you in the handcarts so should not be too heavy and can be used as a seat if required. Some youth choose to create cushions for their trek bucket to have a more comfortable seat.

Note, Trek organisers will keep the buckets following Trek to reduce the cost of future Treks and minimise wastage.

Items Youth forget to bring to Trek

1 / Sleeping Mattress

Many youth have come to trek without any form of sleep mattress. Even a simple yoga mat will make sleeping more enjoyable. The ground they will be sleeping on can be both rocky and lumpy.

2 / Drink Bottles

The youth will need to drink a lot of water while on trek. They will need a sturdy drink bottle. The ideal drink bottle for trek is metal (so it doesn't break) and has a strong loop so it can be hung from the handcart.

3 / Broad Rim Hat

In October, the days can already get quite warm. All Trek participants need to wear a hat to protect them from the sun and heat. Many youth have come to trek without a hat and found it uncomfortable.

Please note that in keeping with the Pioneer clothing requirements that baseball caps and bucket style hats will not be accepted as Trek attire.

BRING

Bags will be checked prior to leaving – this is to assist the youth to feel the Spirit along the Trek and get closer to their Heavenly Father.  It will be a more positive experience if these items are not brought along in the first instance.

DO NOT BRING:

  • Valuables such as jewellery

  • Make-up, perfume, hairspray, etc.  It will detract from trek and will also make you popular with insects.

  • Electronics or cell phones for youth (Adult use limited to trek related communications)

  • Extra food (plenty of food will be provided)

  • Absolutely NO NUTS or NUT PRODUCTS allowed (a participant has an anaphylactic allergy)
